András Szabó
A computer science engineer and co-founder of iData. His work covered vehicle tracking, fuel control and stream-processing data systems.
iData appeared in Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 in 2012, 2013 and 2014. András received Hungary’s Young Leader of the Year award in 2015.
Key milestones
From micro-enterprise to market leader
After co-founding iData in 2005, he served as lead developer, then CTO, and became CEO in 2017.
Research: encrypted telephone systems
At the IT² (IT squared) research centre, he researched encrypted VoIP telephone exchange systems. His solution was presented at CeBIT. He earned his master’s degree in 2009.
Market leader after a successful exit
iData joined the NORBIT group in a successful exit in 2021. After the acquisition, András remained the company’s CEO. In this period, iData’s tolling business became a market leader in Hungary’s tolling market in 2023.
University teaching
Team-based software development
He teaches team-based software development at BME. The focus is on software with a sound architecture that remains maintainable over the long term: how to design and develop it as a team and with AI assistance. The challenge is to preserve quality while the software develops sustainably alongside the company and changing requirements.
